Born to Teach

In 2006, I came out from behind my desk job and started working out by using the equipment in the gym, but soon felt that I was losing motivation. It was then that I decided to start taking the group classes.

They gave me the motivation that I had begun to lose, working out by myself. I loved it! It was fun! I met new people, made new friends, and we were motivating each other to push just a little bit more. I found myself at the gym every day taking all the different classes. I would drive up to Lansing from Jackson where I live, on Saturday mornings for Strength Class. The Instructor, at that time was having medical issues with her daughter, and one Saturday she didn’t show up to teach. There were about 15 people in class that morning. When we were told that the Instructor would not be there, I said, “I’ll teach the class.” Everyone in the room was all for it, so I ran to my car grabbed a CD and free styled my way for an hour of Strength. I totally loved it. I was hooked.

On the following Monday, the director of group fitness approached me, saying he had heard a lot of positive feedback from the members that had taken my class. He asked if I would be able to sub classes from time to time, and even have a class of my own. WOW! My dream came true.

Approaching my fifth year of teaching classes at Go Workout, I can truly say that I am doing what I was born to do, and loving every minute of it.
